Rasool Berry Challenges Students

Rasool Berry, director of Impact Music and the music ministry in the Impact Movement, spoke at Chapel Nov. 9. CSU students were not only welcomed in by CSU’s gospel choir but also were blessed by the encouraging word Berry brought the congregation.

Berry made an impact on the students by sharing his heart and encouraging us to allow Christ to be our strength because Jesus uses the weak to make an impact on the world.

Charleston Southern will always remember the message that Berry gave because it challenges us all to be a part of something other than ourselves and look to Christ to be all that we can be in His strength, not our own.

Student Profile – Siouxchak Brewington

What helped you decide to come to CSU?

-          It’s a Christian college, and I want to be a youth pastor.

 What is your major?

-          Youth Ministry.

How happy are you with your major?

-          Oh, I love it.

What do you like most about college?

-          The people. Everyone here is so easy to meet. I guess it’s because a lot of people come here only knowing a few people or none at all, so they’re very open.

Compared to high school, is college easier or more difficult?

-          More difficult.

 What’s your favorite class?

-          Freshman Seminar. Can I say that? Is that a class?

What are your goals for the future?

-          To graduate, go to seminary and be a youth pastor.

 What’s your favorite TV show?

-          I don’t watch that much TV, but I’d say Friends. I think I’ve seen every episode.

 What’s your favorite movie?

-          Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

-          I met a girl at summer camp, talked to her for like 10 minutes, and ended up staying with her and her family, 12 hours away, for a week.

If your house was on fire, what one item would you save?

-          A letter from that girl. I was madly in love with her that summer, it was ridiculous.

 Can you play any instruments?

-          Yeah, two. The ukulele, banjo, mandolin, drums.

If you could pick anywhere in the world to go, where would it be?

-          Forest Hill, Maryland. Where that girl lives.

Is there anything else interesting about yourself that you want to share?

-          I’ve died before. One time I was skiing and fell. I broke my back, broke my neck and had a brain injury. My heart actually stopped for two minutes.
