Unity is the theme for the Charleston Southern MLK event. Martin Luther King, with his commitment to end racial segregation and discrimination through nonviolent means, would agree with such a theme. Our school will be hosting a Candle Light Vigil around the Reflection Pond on Monday, January 16 from 5-5:45 pm to honor our fallen warrior for Christ. Please stop by to pay your respects to his memory and unite with others of like minds who desire to see unity of all kinds.

The Annual MLK Holiday Parade will also be on Monday Jan. 16th. It begins at 11am in front of Burke High School. It will run from Fishburne Street to Ashley Avenue then to Sumter Street and King Street and ends at Marion Square.

Another way to pay tribute is to donate to an MLK book drive. There is a drop box located outside of the campus bookstore. Needed are books suitable for 5th-9th grade students.

This is a federal holiday.  All public offices will be closed. All banks, post offices and public school will also be closed in remembrance.

Charleston Southern will be holding classes and all offices will be open.
