What is your major?

-          Physical Education

 How happy are you with your major?

-          I love it.

 Compared to high school, is college easier or more difficult?

-          More difficult.

 What’s your favorite class?

-          English.

 Who’s your favorite professor?

-          Dr. Sharp.

 What are your goals for the future?

-          To focus more on God, and less on school.

 What’s your favorite TV show?

-          The Big Bang Theory.

 What’s your favorite type of music?

-          Acoustic.

 What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

-          I toilet papered my pastor’s house, and he called me out in front of the whole church.

-          God, musical instruments and love.

What helped you decide to come to CSU?

-          It’s a Christian college, and I want to be a youth pastor.

 What is your major?

-          Youth Ministry.

 How happy are you with your major?

-          Oh, I love it.

 What do you like most about college?

-          The people. Everyone here is so easy to meet. I guess it’s because a lot of people come here only knowing a few people or none at all, so they’re very open.  

 Compared to high school, is college easier or more difficult?

-          More difficult.

 What’s your favorite class?

-          Freshman Seminar. Can I say that? Is that a class?

 What are your goals for the future?

-          To graduate, go to seminary and be a youth pastor.

 What’s your favorite TV show?

-          I don’t watch that much TV, but I’d say Friends. I think I’ve seen every episode.

 What’s your favorite movie?

-          Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

 What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

-          I met a girl at summer camp, talked to her for like 10 minutes, and ended up staying with her and her family, 12 hours away, for a week.

 If your house was on fire, what one item would you save?

-          A letter from that girl. I was madly in love with her that summer, it was ridiculous.

 Can you play any instruments?

-          Yeah, two. The ukulele, banjo, mandolin, drums.

 If you could pick anywhere in the world to go, where would it be?

-          Forest Hill, Maryland. Where that girl lives.

Is there anything else interesting about yourself that you want to share?

-          I’ve died before. One time I was skiing and fell. I broke my back, broke my neck and had a brain injury. My heart actually stopped for two minutes.

9. Sent By Ravens

Sent By Ravens is a Christian rock band from our own Charleston, South Carolina. They feature heavy guitar riffs and excellent vocals that sing lyrics with meaning. They’ve been around for a few years, releasing their second full-length album in 2010, entitled Our Graceful Words.

8. Joel Piper

Joel Piper was the drummer and soft vocalist for the recently disbanded Christian hardcore band Confide. He is now pursuing a solo career and released his debut EP, The Only One, on Tuesday. He sings catchy lyrics and has formed a sparkly pop sound that you could hear on any radio station.

 7. This Century

This Century is a four-piece alternative rock band out of Phoenix, Arizona. They feature upbeat and catchy songs, along with those they may end up on your Going to Sleep playlist and write very simple, clean lyrics that are easy to sing along to.  After releasing several EPs since 2007, This Century released their first full-length album, Sound of Fire in April 2011. The Whit Worthian calls the album, “a lighthearted, upbeat, and enjoyable listen that will likely stay on repeat for a while.”

Brighten, out of Chico, California, is the side project of Justin Richards of A Rocket to the Moon. Richards belts out powerful hooks, and then hits the other side of the spectrum by crooning over slow, meaningful pieces. Brighten produces guitar driven songs that are matched with some of the most creative and descriptive lyrics in the industry. Some jams will get you moving and others just may join those of This
Century on your Going to Sleep compilation. They released their second EP, “I’ll Always Be Around” in August 2011.

 5. Aaron Gillespie

Aaron Gillespie is the former drummer and vocalist of Christian hardcore band Underoath and current frontman of The Almost. He is now pursuing a solo career and released his first solo worship album, Anthem Song, in March  2011. He writes worship songs that are up to par with Elevation Worship and even Hillsong United. His distinct voice that so many loved as a part of Underoath and still do in The Almost, can now be heard passionately singing service-ready worship songs.

Run Kid Run
is a Christian pop/rock band from Carmi, Illiinois. They display infectious melodies and energetic songs that are guaranteed to get your foot tapping. Lead singer David Josiah Curtis passionately belts out every faith-based lyric they write. They released a single last month, entitled “Back to the Basics,”,which will lead up to their third studio album, Patterns, set to be released this fall.

 3. Everyone Dies In Utah

Despite strangely named, Everyone Dies In Utah, hailing from Temple, Texas, is one of the most talented up-and-coming post-hardcore bands in the scene right now. They feature clean, positive lyrics and electronic sounds that add a whole different layer to their music. They released their first studio album, Seeing Clearly, in February 2011 and also released a cover of Katy Perry’s “E.T.” that is definitely worth the listen.  From great clean vocals, to synth lines that make you want to dance, to bass drops, Everyone Dies In Utah has it all.

Out of Charlottesville, Virginia, Parachute is a rock band that is slowly taking over the nation. Their piano driven songs include meaningful and well written lyrics, and lead singer Will Anderson delivers them with one of the best voices in the industry today. They released their second studio album, The Way It Was, in May 2011. An Under the Gun Review writer says, “I have no idea how I can put into words the magnificence of this collection of lyrical, melodic, and instrumental perfection. I had high expectations for The Way It Was, and when I have set the bar high for a record, I usually end up disappointed. This is a well-needed exception.”
